Direct Care Worker Positions – Male Bona Fide

These roles involve working in custody facilities for youth, aged 12-17.  The successful candidates will have a strong background in residential services for youth and be responsible for all aspects of child and youth work including shift leadership, safety and security of youth.  Due to the compliance requirements of these facilities, the positions have been identified as Male Bona Fide.

Performance Requirements:

• Demonstrated understanding of youth behaviour and the Youth Justice System
• Able to establish therapeutic relationships on the basis of respect and trust
• Willingness to promote our Corporate philosophy
• Ability and willingness to lead youth through a process of self-evaluation and goal setting consistent with Cognitive Behaviour Theory and Lead Management
• Ability to write clear, concise observations of youth behaviour
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to use sound judgment and make independent decisions based on Policies & Procedures
• Proven computer skills, MS Office preferred
• A valid Ontario (G) driver’s licence, current Police Records Check & Vulnerable Position Screening,
• First Aid, PMAB
• Involves shift work and some weekends

Education/Experience:

• Post Secondary education in a related field
• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a youth residential setting

Work Location:              King Street Detention Centre – London

                                       Genest Detention Centre for Youth - London

Starting Wage:            $17.94 hourly, plus comprehensive benefits package
