Purpose of Position
This assignment is for an intermediate level electrical engineer who independently performs a variety of complex engineering tasks in support of Product Engineering initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs engineering assignments requiring broad familiarity with a variety of electrical theories and concepts.
- Investigates and provides solid engineering solutions to product issues and continuous improvement \ value engineering opportunities.
- Solves problems using a combination of standard procedures, modification of standard procedures, or developed methods.
- Demonstrates an extensive working knowledge of relevant electrical standards such as UL, CSA, CE, NEC.
- Works as a team with the mechanical and controls engineers to implement electrical engineering designs to the product.
- Creates and executes to plans in order to achieve prescribed objectives.
- Makes independent studies, analyses, interpretations and conclusions.
- Provides professional and comprehensive technical documentation including electrical drawings completed in AutoCad.
- Investigates and implements engineering changes to the product.
Background and Skill
- Qualified professional electrical engineer, or eligible for that designation
- 5+ years of related work experience
- Proven track record of developing innovative design solutions
- Detail oriented
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team player but also able to work independently and responsibly
- Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple priorities while utilizing project management techniques
- Knowledge of power electronics devices and/or power quality fundamentals an asset
