Child and Youth Worker
Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 28,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, as well as students from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will provide direct services and/or consultation to students, staff, and families. This individual will deliver evidence based social emotional, behavioural, and mental health interventions and programs, to individuals, groups, classrooms, and students who are on long term suspension or expulsion. They will also assist in re-entry plans and develop support plans for students that have been negatively impacted by student behaviour. The candidate will also respond, collaborate, and support crises and traumatic situations. This individual would also provide professional learning to staff and families.
In addition, the individual will follow Grand Erie procedures and practices related to, but not limited to, case management, informed consent, confidentiality, record keeping, and report writing and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum Child & Youth Worker Diploma is required
- Verification of post-secondary education (diploma/degree or original transcript) will be required
- An understanding of evidence-based prevention and intervention approaches for supporting children and youth who struggle with self-regulation and social skills, as well as mental health
- An understanding of risk assessment Is preferred
- Knowledge of social-emotional learning and the ability to deliver programs in individual, group and classroom settings is preferred
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices to support crises and traumatic events is preferred
- Knowledge of local community resources is preferred
- Experience with school-aged students in an educational setting is preferred
- Experience with students having special education needs is preferred
- Ability to work as a member of a school and multi-disciplinary team is preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively is required
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license is required
- Must be proficient in the use of computers

$46,440 to $55,975 annually
Starting salary range $46,440 to $52,797
