YMCA of Southwestern Ontario was founded in 1856 and has over 200 locations from Goderich to Point Pelee, and Windsor to Woodstock. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed child care in Canada and have over 100 school age programs across our regions. We also offer settlement services to newcomers, employment programs, mental health support, and youth programs. YMCA of Southwestern Ontario operates two overnight camps, one in Point Pelee National Park, and one on Beausoleil Island in Muskoka. We also have 15 Health & Fitness branches across Southwestern Ontario.

Employees and volunteers of YMCA of Southwestern Ontario are ambassadors for the Y both on and off the job. Position: Manager, Child & Youth and Day Camp
Start Date: August 2024
Salary: $42,000-$45,000

Qualifications & Experience:
• 2 years post secondary education in recreation, child and youth studies, or another relevant field is an asset
• Computer skills – Word, Excel, Windows, basic Internet skills
• 2 years field experience with a minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in managing front-line staff
• Familiar working with general financial statements & excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience in managing multi-program budgets
• First Aid/CPR Certified
• Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening is a condition of employment for all staff and volunteers
• It is a YMCA of Southwestern Ontario requirement that all employees and volunteers be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Exemptions will be granted upon receipt of acceptable proof of a permissible Human Rights Code ground. This requirement has been suspended effective June 30, 2022. It may be reinstated in future should the state of public health in our communities require it
Compensation/Benefits:

• Vacation entitlement in accordance with the employment standards regulations
• May be entitled to up to 12 paid personal days – applicable with position and contract length

Schedule:
• 40 hours / week
• Varying shifts may include mornings, afternoon, evenings and holidays

Responsibilities:

• Adhere to YMCA of Southwestern Ontario policy and procedures
• Act as a YMCA ambassador, demonstrating YMCA core values in your daily work
• Manages employees and volunteers of the Child and Youth, and Day Camp Departments
• Manage department budgets
• Ensure consistent delivery of excellent customer service to both members and potential members of the YMCA. Supervisor will demonstrate the values of the YMCA as it relates to the scope and responsibilities of his/her role as supervisor
• Administration of documentation, facility budget/forecasting, records management, accounts payable, supplies/inventory, departmental reports, responding to service request etc.
• Develop, direct, and implement new and current programs
• Liaise with external community groups and partners
• Recruitment, training and development of staff, volunteers
• Provides direction to all camp programming including summer, school year and break weeks
• Development and maintenance of program plans including program evaluation and program inquiries
• Preparation and execution of payroll responsibilities
• Prepare and manage participation and program waitlists seasonally as per demand
