YMCA of Southwestern Ontario was founded in 1856 and has over 200 locations from Goderich to Point Pelee, and Windsor to Woodstock. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed child care in Canada and have over 100 school age programs across our regions. We also offer settlement services to newcomers, employment programs, mental health support, and youth programs. YMCA of Southwestern Ontario operates two overnight camps, one in Point Pelee National Park, and one on Beausoleil Island in Muskoka. We also have 15 Health & Fitness branches across Southwestern Ontario.

Position: Care for Newcomer Children Educator - RECE
Location: Wortley CNC
Rate of Pay:
RECE: $23.86
Non RECE: $19.34
Start Date: September 9, 2024
Schedule:
• Monday – Friday day shifts, with some evening shifts that may be required
• Annual calendar will be provided as the schedule is based on contracted hours yearly
As part of your total compensation:
• Receive a complimentary YMCA membership to our Health & Fitness facilities, and discounts on YMCA child care and camp programs
• Vacation entitlement in accordance with the employment standards regulations
• May be entitled to up to 12 paid personal days – applicable with position and contract length
• Benefits package - applicable with position and contract length

In this role, you will:
• Follow YMCA of Southwestern Ontario policy and procedures
• Act as a YMCA ambassador, demonstrating YMCA core values in your daily work
• Follow and adhere to the CMAS and/or Ministry of Education CCEYA Requirements and Best Practices
• Plan appropriate activities for children in accordance with the written Program Philosophy and ProgramStatement
• Welcome and interact with newcomer children and their parents
• Provide activities and experiences that meet the individual developmental needs of the children
• Ensure that multicultural, race and ethnic relations are part of the programming
• Set up and take down equipment and other items used in the program
• Maintain records, including a daily record, attendance, registration forms etc.
• Inspect CNC space for safety issues and seek corrective action according to procedures
• Work with the team members to create a positive environment
• Other duties as required
Education and Skills Qualifications:
• Minimum of 1 year experience working with children
• Priority will be given to applicants with RECE Certification
• Current CPR / Standard First Aid
• Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
• Proof of immunization and health check up
• The job involves working with young children which includes lifting and participating in physical activities
