Hours of Work: up to 40 hours, days, evenings and weekends based on operational needs
Wage Rate: $18.68/hour (Based on the 2025 pay grid)

Position Summary:
The Seasonal Horticulture Technician work under the supervision of the Manager of Parks and Facilities. The seasonal position assists with the care and maintenance of gardens, hanging baskets and landscaped areas throughout the Municipality.
Primary Duties:
- Responsible for duties related, but not limited to the care of plants, shrubs and small trees throughout the Municipality of Lambton Shores.
- Provides safe operation, care and maintenance of tools, equipment and vehicles (e.g., trucks, hand tools).
- Required to weed, water, prune, dead head, plant, woodchip and maintain beds and landscaped areas on a scheduled basis.
- Required to assist with tree and shrub maintenance in municipal parks.
- Required to perform flower watering duties for hanging baskets, municipal planters and new tree plantings where needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements and Skills:
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary institution in Horticulture, Landscaping or related program.
- Experience in Horticulture or landscaping is considered an asset.
- Valid G Ontario Driver’s license with a clear driving record.
- Valid CPR and First Aid training is an asset.
- Ability to work with various small tools and equipment.
- Ability to work with or without supervision. Many of the tasks for this position will not be directly supervised.
Experience/ Work Complexity:
- Daily supervision from the Manager with the ability to work without supervision.
- Makes on-site decisions when working with equipment in the field.
- Must adhere to health and safety practices at all times.
- Works regularly with a wide variety of equipment including pick-up truck and hand-held tools.
- Must have training in equipment operation and material handling.
- Must be aware of safe operating procedures for all equipment and work sites.
- Must wear personal protective safety equipment on the job.
- Knowledge of safety practices to ensure a safe workplace and safety of the public.
- Majority of work time is spent outdoors.
- Ability working in varying weather conditions.
- Strong focus on customer service and ability to interact with members of the public.
