Position: (1) Human Resources Generalist – Recruitment (Permanent)

Salary: $62,354 (Starting) to $83,840 (at 30 months)                               

Hybrid Remote Options:
The LPS is currently operating under a Pilot Remote Work Procedure. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement following successful completion of training.

Position Summary:  
The Human Resources Generalist - Recruitment is responsible for executing the full cycle recruitment process for Internal Civilian and Constable vacancies as well as External Civilian vacancies within the London Police Service (LPS). Acting as a positive brand ambassador, the Human Resources Generalist - Recruitment will actively engage in external recruitment activities on behalf of the LPS.   

Responsibilities:
  • Work with Divisions of the London Police Service (LPS) to identify current and anticipated recruitment needs, and develop, recommend, and execute plans to ensure positions are filled in a timely manner.
  • Create and post internal and external vacancies in line with the working agreement.
  • Pre-screen applications and create a short-list to submit to Division.
  • Conduct telephone pre-screen interviews when applicable.
  • Develop and recommend job-specific interview questions.
  • Participate in selection panels and provide hiring recommendations.
  • Communicate job offer to successful candidate and answer questions pertaining to their Offer of Employment and the Working Agreement.
  • Compile and report on recruitment data (e.g., time to fill), identify emerging recruitment trends, and prepare reports and recommendations as required.
  • Review and pre-screen internal Constable applications, provide qualified applicants to Divisional Commanders, and communicate with internal applicants that do not meet the minimum requirements.
  • Engage in proactive recruitment, sourcing, and development of the LPS employer brand.
  • Participate in local and regional job fairs and outreach activities.
  • Liaise with universities, colleges, and other community organizations to promote employment opportunities with the LPS.
  • Develop and execute sourcing plans and recruitment milestones.
  • Facilitate in-person onboarding for new hires.
  • Represent the employer brand in a professional and respectful manner and positively influence the perception of LPS as an employer of choice.
  • Assist in identifying barriers and develop recommendations to ensure talent management policies, practices and systems are equitable and enable the retention, development, and advancement of under-represented and marginalized groups.
  • Ensure all steps of the recruitment process are compliant with and are legally defensible.
  • Other duties as assigned within the core competencies.
Requirements
  • 3-year post-secondary Diploma in a related field, with education/course work in Human Resources Management or equivalent.
  • CHRP Designation.
  • 2-3 years’ experience working within the Human Resources field (e.g., pre-screening resumes, interviewing candidates, participating in selection, conducting employee orientation/onboarding)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and judgement required for problems or situations that deviate from straight-forward procedures on a regular basis.
  • Strong communication skills for regular contact with LPS members and members of the public to give, obtain, and/or exchange, and/or discuss technical information or decisions requiring discussion or explanation to ensure full understanding with tact, self-control, and persuasiveness.
