Hours:  35 hours per week. Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Pay Details:  $38.01 per hour

Note: This is an Initiatives/Opportunities full-time temporary position for 1-year from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension.

Work Categorization: This position would be required to work in-person at the Oxford Street Campus (1001 Fanshawe College Boulevard) and is not subject to hybrid work.

Duties: Reporting to the Associate Dean , School of Health Sciences, the Health Sciences Technologist will assist faculty and students with learning activities within the School of Health Sciences, primarily in the Respiratory Therapy program.

The incumbent plans, designs, organizes and oversees student laboratory learning sessions and conducts demonstrations, including demonstrations of applied lab skills. Additionally, they plan, organize, oversee, and support simulation learning and evaluation involving manikins, ventilators, gas machines, immersive technology and other equipment. The incumbent oversees simulation and laboratory equipment use and ensures all health and safety and infection control standards are met.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post-secondary 3-year diploma/degree in Respiratory Therapy or Health Sciences in a field of study congruent with the set of labs to which the individual is assigned
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario required
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the healthcare field related to the programs they will support
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
  • Experience working with students in a professional learning environment would be considered an asset
  • A strong commitment to student engagement and success
  • Excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of people from different backgrounds
  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with various medical technologies
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment
