YMCA of Southwestern Ontario was founded in 1856 and has over 200 locations from Goderich to Point Pelee, and Windsor to Woodstock. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed child care in Canada and have over 100 school age programs across our regions. We also offer settlement services to newcomers, employment programs, mental health support, and youth programs. YMCA of Southwestern Ontario operates two overnight camps, one in Point Pelee National Park, and one on Beausoleil Island in Muskoka. We also have 15 Health & Fitness branches across Southwestern Ontario.

Employees and volunteers of YMCA of Southwestern Ontario are ambassadors for the Y both on and off the job. Position: Supervisor, Health & Wellness
Location: Startech.com Community Centre YMCA
Start Date: August 2024
Salary: 40,000-45,000

In this role, you will:

• Be committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging

• Recruitment, training and performance management of fitness staff and volunteers
• Responsible for delivery and evaluation of all fitness programs and services
• Provide direct delivery of individual conditioning, registered programs and recreation programs
• Administrative duties including payroll, scheduling, monitoring waitlists, registration, statistical reporting and analysis
• Supports and assists in the delivery of branch initiatives including the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign
• Vision planning for all adult programs by evaluating current programs, exploring new trends and determining annual initiatives/direction resulting in member retention and new members
• Ensure YMCA program standards, policies and procedures are maintained
• Facilitate leadership training to volunteer and staff to ensure program quality assurance
• Ensure a safe environment


Education and Skills Qualifications:

• Completion of degree/diploma in Recreation & Leisure, Phys.Ed., or equivalent
• 3-4 years of Health & Wellness experience.
• Standard First Aid/CPR/AED
• YMCA /Personal Training or equivalent
• Group Fitness Certification and or equivalent (an asset)
• YMCA Fitness Trainer (an asset)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening is a condition of employment for all staff and volunteers
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
