YMCA of Southwestern Ontario was founded in 1856 and has over 200 locations from Goderich to Point Pelee, and Windsor to Woodstock. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed child care in Canada and have over 100 school age programs across our regions. We also offer settlement services to newcomers, employment programs, mental health support, and youth programs. YMCA of Southwestern Ontario operates two overnight camps, one in Point Pelee National Park, and one on Beausoleil Island in Muskoka. We also have 15 Health & Fitness branches across Southwestern Ontario.

Camp Director, YMCA Camp Henry - Spring/Summer 2025
Location: Point Pelee National Park, Leamington, Ontario
Position Type: Seasonal - April-September
About the Role: Are you passionate about camp leadership, youth development, and making a difference? YMCA Camp Henry is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Camp Director to join our vibrant camp community. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to:
? Lead and ensure the quality and safety of camp experiences for children and youth.
? Inspire and support the overnight camp staff team, fostering their leadership and development.
? Ensure the delivery of high-quality participant experiences that promote and reflect the YMCA core values and mission statement.
? Co-ordinate facility operations and schedules with Parks Canada for all buildings and ensure compliance with all relevant provincial regulations/standards.
? Provide onsite leadership and supervision of all operations during operating seasons.
? Act as an ambassador for the Y, demonstrating our core values (Caring, Respect, Honesty, Responsibility, Inclusiveness).
? Collaborate with the interpretive team at Parks Canada to help campers explore this ecologically significant and beautiful area, including sandy beaches, forested trails, shady forests, wetlands teeming with wildlife, and comfortable camp facilities that create a very unique, special camp experience for campers and staff alike.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and ensure the quality and safety of camp experiences for children and youth.
• Inspire and support the overnight camp staff team, fostering their leadership and development.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality participant experiences that promote and reflect the YMCA core values and mission statement.
• Co-ordinate facility operations and schedules with Parks Canada for all buildings and ensure compliance with all relevant provincial regulations/standards.
• Provide onsite leadership and supervision of all operations during operating seasons.
• Act as an ambassador for the Y, demonstrating our core values.
• Ensure all supplies, equipment and staffing levels are in place to serve the needs of our campers
• Work with the interpretive team at Parks Canada to help campers explore the area's sandy beaches, forested trails, shady forests, wetlands teeming with wildlife, and comfortable camp facilities.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience managing and supervising staff in a camp or outdoor education environment (minimum two years).
• Skills in communication, relationship building, and organization.
• Current Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Screening.
