Position: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Industrial Wastewater Treatment Equipment,
WESCOR provides wastewater treatment solutions for a range of industrial, commercial and municipal markets specializing in process design and equipment supply to challenging applications. We offer our in-house equipment design and fabrication, turn-key treatment systems followed by long term field support for our clients.
WESCOR is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. We require a dedicated and motivated individual interested in contributing to our business’s success. The current role provides opportunity for future development for the right candidate.
Summary of Position:
A team-oriented individual who will be responsible for mechanical and design engineering of Industrial Wastewater Treatment Equipment.
Job Functions:
Design Engineering:
  • Develop, analyze, and implement innovative design solutions for industrial wastewater treatment equipment and systems
  • Drive development from concept to production.
  • Perform analytical calculations of applied mechanics, material strength, fluid dynamics and tolerances
  • Selection, specification, procurement of build components.
  • Complete appropriate selection and use of materials
  • Creation of CAD designs in SolidWorks including parts, assemblies, models, drawing packages for internal use & provision to sub contractors.
  • Carry out assignments of substantial variety and/or complexity requiring a sound understanding of related engineering or scientific theory, principles and practices
  • Creation of drawing packages for customer approval including: Dimensional, G.A.'s, P&ID, Process Flow.
  • Create technical specification documents.
  • Create & maintain bill of material,Q.A. & factory control docs, Assembly records, Manuals & project files.
  • Prepare engineering deliverables such as technical specifications, drawings and other contract documents
  • Liaise with clients and vendors
  • Specify and acquire build components
  • Manage project schedules and budget
  • Prepare detailed costing schedules
  • Implement advanced engineering techniques, principles and practices
  • Understand use of quality control tools and precision instruments, ie. vernier calipers, micrometer
  • Exposure to Continuous Improvement, Lean methodology or Six Sigma Process
  • Create & maintain bill of material, Q.A. & factory control docs, Assembly records, Manuals & project files.
  • Prepare engineering deliverables such as technical specifications, drawings and other contract documents
  • Liaise with clients and vendors
  • Manage project schedules and budget
  • Prepare detailed costing schedules
  • Conduct pre-shipment equipment configuration and testing
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical equipment and systems
  • Analyze client technical specifications and requirements in terms of mechanical and process engineering principles, system design and technology requirements
  • Develop recommendations for system, equipment and process design
  • Create proposal documents
Experience & Education:
Minimum of five years’ experience within a related manufacturing industry, with preference given to experience with mechanical design, custom fabrication of stainless steel structural and sheet metal, and water and wastewater fields
  • Bachelors, Masters or Peng in Mechanical Engineering or related
  • Extensive experience with expert ability in SolidWorks CAD modelling, drawing, parts, assemblies and simulations.
  • Strong Knowledge & Understanding of metal fabrication process and procedures, sheet metal design and fabrication, standard GD&T
  • Extensive Mechanical design experience.
  • Strong analytical, mechanical, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge in welding processes, stainless steel, metal manufacturing and machining
  • Proficient in MS Office, Visio and strong computer skills
Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent documentation skills - ability to maintain a clear project file
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences including clients, contractors, and field staff
  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle a wide range of client and project types and requirements
  • Able to use initiative and good judgement in the application of standard procedures
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a team environment while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to work unsupervised and multitask while meeting deadlines
  • Must hold a valid driver’s licence in Ontario and be willing to travel Domestically & Internationally as required
