SALARY RANGE: $64,291- $85,023
HIRING RANGE: $64,291 - $82,057

POSITION SUMMARY:

The System Staff Development Specialist supports the success and professional growth of employees through the development, facilitation and implementation of effective professional learning for all staff. The incumbent(s) are involved in maintaining and collecting data, creating frameworks and facilitating program development to enhance system-wide succession planning.

Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Coordinate professional development activities for all employee groups; connects with external and internal resources; secures venues and organizes required learning resources for training events
  • Evaluate existing professional learning activities to determine areas for improvement and potential gaps
  • Develop and facilitate existing and new professional development with internal stakeholders
  • Verify attendance at professional development activities, enters data into attendance software and verifies data before Payroll deadline
  • Liaise with staff, supervisors, managers, union representatives and community partners
Work Performed
 
  • Facilitate all aspects of professional development initiatives for all staff including needs assessment, research, program design, facilitation, implementation, materials production, and resource selection
  • Review, evaluate and modify programs as appropriate
  • Prepare Board proposals and reports as required
  • Conduct program reviews and make revisions to strategic plan in conjunction with System Principal, Organizational Support Services
  • Train facilitators in standards specific to the Board · Manage session preparation and follow-up activities · Administer allocated budget and liaise with Financial Services staff
  • Maintain System Staff Development website
  • Communicate with system regarding program availability and registration
  • Collect and maintain data related to system needs for succession planning
  • Develop strategic plans for system-wide succession planning
Qualities/Skills/Specialized Knowledge:
 
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Outlook 365, MS Office Suite, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to facilitate learning by utilizing adult learning principles
  • Ability to coordinate and manage projects
  • General understanding of budgets
Education, Experience and Qualifications:

Completion of a four (4) year Degree or a three (3) year Degree combined with a one (1) year post-secondary program in Adult Education, Teaching, Leadership and Organizational Development or equivalent 

Three (3) years of related work experience is required
