The City of London is committed to eradicating gender-based violence in our community and to creating a Safe London for women, girls, and gender-diverse and trans people. The Senior Coordinator plays a supportive role in becoming the safe and inclusive workplace we envision, and also collaborates with community partners to drive broader social change.
The City of London joined the UN Safe Cities initiative to address gender-based violence in public spaces; City Council initially introduced Safe London as a strategic priority in 2019.
Reporting to the Director, Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression, the Senior Coordinator, Safe Cities Equity and Inclusion supports the work of the Director, Manager and Advisors in the Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression Division to develop effective relationships, recommend and implement innovative community engagement strategies with individuals or groups who experience marginalization, oppression and/or racism, including Black and Indigenous people, other racialized peoples, persons with disabilities, members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, and women. The Senior Coordinator, Safe Cities and Equity and Inclusion will support the Safe London strategic priority both internally within the corporation and the community. The Senior Coordinator will also participate in national, and international groups related to gender equity and gender-based sexual violence, including the London Coordinating Committee to End Woman Abuse and the United Nations Safe Cities Initiative. The Senior Coordinator will also administer and support projects, strategies and initiatives of the Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression Division and promotes linkages between the Division/Corporation and the community, including key partners, agencies, boards and commissions.
