(Full Time, Permanent)

Who Are We?
The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority’s (UTRCA) mission statement is Inspiring a Healthy Environment. The 17 municipalities within the Upper Thames River watershed appoint representatives to the UTRCA’s Board of Directors who represent the local urban and rural communities, deciding policies and programs that will lead to a healthy watershed. Our programs and services focus on five key areas:
? Protecting people and property and supporting safe development;
? Delivering landowner stewardship;
? Providing natural spaces and recreational opportunities;
? Making science-based decisions;
? Empowering communities and youth.
The Upper Thames River watershed encompasses an area of 3,421 square kilometers and is mainly rural but includes the urban centres of London, Stratford, and Woodstock. The UTRCA serves a total population of approximately 593,700 residents.
UTRCA Conservation Areas provide outdoor recreational opportunities that aim to educate and promote conservation messages to a large audience in an effort to improve the watershed’s natural environment.

Summary
The focus of Visitor Experience Specialist is to collaborate with Conservation Area staff to enhance visitor experience, developing and managing programs, partnerships and special events that align with the UTRCA’s strategy and vision. These programs aim to maximize the usage of Conservation Area facilities and day use areas as well as increase revenue for the Conservation Areas. Time allocation between Conservation Areas is 50% Fanshawe CA, 15% Wildwood CA, 15% Pittock CA, and 20% general UTRCA programs and functions.

Key deliverables include: developing and implementing a customer service strategy, increasing daily and repeat visitor counts, increasing revenue, creating positive memorable visitor experiences, forging partnerships with like-minded organizations, developing visitor experience assessment tools, analyzing results, and recommending and implementing improvements.

Education
? Completion of a college diploma or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in a parks and recreation, marketing, tourism, events planning, hospitality or a related field;
? Extensive knowledge in MS 365 including Office;
? Must have a current, satisfactory Criminal Records & Judicial Matters Check;
? Valid Drivers’ License required;
? Valid first aid and CPR certificate.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
? A minimum of (5) five years working experience in a recreational setting or tourism;
? A minimum of (3) three years of people management experience and/or leading project teams is required;
? Proven experience with organizing and promoting large-scale special events is required;
? Extensive customer service experience;
? Extensive experience working with social media platforms is required;
? Experience in funding and grant proposals is considered an asset;
? Experience in cash handling, revenue collection and reconciliation are required;
? Excellent computer skills are required;
? Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills;
? Able to identify needs or requests and to provide advice, teach or train;
? Must work some evenings, weekends and statutory holidays to support programs and special events
Compensation and Other Information
? $36.88 to $38.36 (starting wage) to $44.88 per hour;
? Full time, 35 hours per week;
? Comprehensive Group Benefits, Pension Plan (OMERS) and Vacation package;
? Free access to UTRCA Conservation Areas (Fanshawe, Pittock and Wildwood).
