Summary:

Role:

Reporting to the Manager or Guest Services Supervisor, the Theme Park Staff, at Storybook Gardens are responsible for providing a safe, courteous, and memorable experience for all visitors to Storybook Gardens. The area of operations includes building attendants, food services, guest services, entertainment, attractions, programming/special events and seasonal skate cruiser positions. These casual positions work as part of a team in a public facing fast paced environment ensuring the park is safe, clean, and ready for guests while providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons and volunteers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to City of London patrons who attend Storybook Gardens. 
  • Complete all required paperwork and reports as outlined by Supervisor.
  • Attend regular staff meetings as required by supervisor. 
  • Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment. 
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Entertainment

  • Entertainment staff provide a variety of entertainment and interactions with park visitors, both on stage and during “street” level performances. Entertainment opportunities may include singing and dancing in small musical productions, puppetry, and costume and mascot appearances.
  • Entertainment staff applicants should have previous experience and/or training in some/all of the above-mentioned disciplines.

Attractions

  • Attraction Leaders inspect and safely operate the various amusement attractions, including the carousel, train, jumping pillow, splash pad and waterslide, pedal cars, swings, elephant ride and additional rental attractions.
  • These roles require a focus on safety and confidence in enforcing policies and procedures. All positions will include operation and maintenance tasks.
  • Note: CSA safety footwear is required for this position.

Programming/ Special Events

  • Provide supervision and activity leadership in various play features around the park, including the Adventure Island play area, Gnorbert’s garden, play village, sand play plus regular cleaning duties.
  • Facilitate and supervise special event or drop off programs at Storybook Gardens.
  • Experience with creative programming, child supervision and events are considered an asset for this role.
     

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children and families.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR C (Prior to the start of employment) 
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check (VSPC) (Prior to the start of employment)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including publisher, word and excel, and Xplor Recreation registration software (preferred). 
  • Ability to demonstrate good communication, high energy, enthusiasm and continued positive attitude.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office including word and excel, Rec Staff and Perfect Mind. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. 
  • High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
     

Other Information:

Starting Wage: $17.20 per hour

In-person interviews will be scheduled in February 2025. Training period will run May 1 - May 16, 2025.

Qualifications Required: All positions require Standard First Aid and CPR C, and a Vulnerable Sector Check.
