Our client a well know transportation company is looking for a Accounting – Payroll Clerk
The Ideal candidate would knowledge of Sage 300 and Excel understand the Federal Labour Code as well as Provincial Employment. Understand ESA related to payroll processes. You are also a team player and pitch in where needed, this is a great team and an opportunity to learn and grow!
What we offer:
- Days; 8am – 5 pm (1 hour lunch) or 8:30am-5pm.
- $50,000.00 to $56,000.00
- Company benefits and paid vacation.

- This is a permanent full-time position.
What you’ll be doing:
- End to end processing of bi-weekly payroll weekly (two different divisions)
- Complete monthly and quarterly payroll remittances and reconciliations
- Review changes and payroll processed to ensure accuracy prior to bank cut off
- Work with employees for any payroll related questions or concerns
- Collect & review all employee expenses submitted for accuracy and adherence to our company policies; follow up on any incorrect/ missing expense reports
- Assist in Benefits Administration and new employee set up
- Ensure compliance with payroll and benefits processes and legislative requirements by remaining current on all employment standards, regulations and changes
- Perform general accounting duties which may include bank reconciliations, journal entries, month end closing tasks and credit card reconciliations
- Coordinate the year-end audit and preparation of audited financial statements
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements and external reporting to financial institutions, ensuring that all reporting requirements are met
- Resolve overdue accounts by preparing collection reports, examining customer payment history and contacting customers by phone and email
- Address, document and follow through to the end all A/P discrepancies
- Back up reception functions related to reception and incoming visitors
Who you are:
- Post-secondary education in accounting/finance, payroll or equivalent work experience
- Three (3) years general accounting experience
- Three (3) years payroll & benefits administration experience
- Experience conducting payroll in an organization with multi locations/offices
- Understanding of Federal Legislation (Canada Labour Code)
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office software packages
