Position Summary:
 
This position is responsible for the management of facilities and overseeing food services.   The facilities includes; office and administrative space, 23,000 sq ft.; classrooms, 9600 sq ft.; and three residences each 3500 sq ft. The incumbent is responsible for managing outsourced maintenance services, the direct supervision of staff and for ensuring policies and procedures relevant to areas of responsibilities are implemented and followed.
 
Responsibilities:
  • plans major repairs and maintenance projects, manages the procurement process and ensures the facilities are  maintained in good and safe condition
  • plans office furniture requirements, recommends purchases and manages the procurement process
  • prepares annual budget plan for building maintenance, vehicles and office furniture
  • in consultation with Director of Finance & Administration plans and manages administrative office and client space requirements
  • represents management on the agency Occupational Health and Safety Committee
  • ensures compliance to all fire, health and safety regulations
  • ensures compliance of workers with Occupational Health and Safety Act, specifically section 27(1) and (2) regarding duties of supervisor
 Qualifications and Experience
  • post secondary diploma or equivalent education and experience
  • three years experience in facilities and office management
  • three years supervisory experience
  • Skilled Trades Certificate
 Skills/Ability/Knowledge 
  • competent in Microsoft Office applications is required, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook
  • knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, Occupational Health and Safety Certification preferred
  • knowledge of current labour legislation and laws
 Communication
  • verbal communication skills necessary to comprehend and convey information regarding all areas of support services department
  • written communication skills to complete purchase orders, monthly reports, business letter writing
 Problem Solving/Leadership
  • independent decisions on day-to-day operations and where parameters exist in policy or approved planning and budget process.  Provides effective leadership within the area of responsibility
