About Us
Western Continuing Studies (WCS) is the educational bridge between Western University and the global community. Through innovative leadership in lifelong learning, WCS creates and delivers responsive and accessible programs, including non-credit and credit courses in professional development, post-degree diplomas, experiential learning, pre-degree programming and customized corporate training. In partnership with academic faculties, employers and professional associations, the unit reflects the academic mandate and vision of the University. Its vision, mission, mandate and operating principles are integrated with those of the institution.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Program Operations, the Program Coordinator will provide program support to the Professional Development (including faculty partnerships), Corporate Learning and Post-Degree portfolios, providing support with day-to-day administrative and operational logistical of the programs. The Program Coordinator will manage program updates in Destiny One, coordinate new and existing faculty partnerships and support corporate learning partnerships by coordinating corporate portals and corporate learning programming.
Qualifications
Education:
- Undergraduate Degree
Experience:
- 3 years’ experience providing administrative support and coordination
- Experience in post-secondary education institution; experience with academic policies and procedures is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- An understanding of WCS programming and Micro-credential fundamentals and professionally oriented programming preferred
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- Familiarity with best practices for assessing, developing and implementing new business processes and procedures
- Organizational skills to manage multiple assignments that are accurate and thorough, sometimes of a complex nature or involving competing priorities
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- A creative mindset and willingness to work with partners to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome
- Ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work
- Ability to effectively present information and conduct training sessions and workshops
- Verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
- Ability to understand customer needs and expectations and provide excellent customer service to directly and indirectly satisfy expectations
- Commitment to ongoing professional development with a desire to take on new challenges
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the department’s events and activities
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Interpersonal skills to liaise with prospective and current students, staff, faculty and other members of the Western community
