Summary:

Recreation programs provide all citizens the opportunity to improve self-esteem, motor skills, creativity, physical fitness, and social skills through a variety of crafts, arts, and physical activities.

Role:

Reporting to a Supervisor, Recreation Services, the Roller-Skating Attendant position is responsible for ensuring a safe and clean, and functional operation of the roller-skating area. This casual position works as part of a team in a public facing fast paced environment assisting with roller skating operations including cleaning and maintaining the arena, supervising on the rink during public roller-skating time, and providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor the area around the rink and enforce roller skating rules through the program. 
  • Sweep the floor thoroughly after the scheduled skate programs and during (if necessary). 
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment during all skates (helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, and elbow pads). 
  • Report any unsafe conditions to the Facility Coordinator or Recreation Supervisor on duty.
  • Follow maintenance checklist and keep accurate records of work done. 
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with the public and co-workers.
  • Complete all required paperwork and reports as outlined by Supervisor including accident reports, vandalism reports, customer incident reports etc. 
  • Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment. 
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in line skating or roller skating is a must. 
  • Standard First Aid and CPR C (prior to the start of employment)
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check (VSPC) (prior to the start of employment)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and customer service skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments.

Other Information:

Starting Wage: $17.75 per hour
