About Us
The Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women and Children promotes the development of community-centered action research on violence against women and children. We facilitate the collaboration of individuals, groups and institutions representing the diversity of the community to pursue research questions and training opportunities to understand and prevent violence and abuse. We serve local, national and international communities by producing useful information and tools to assist in the daily work to prevent and stop violence towards women and children and vulnerable adults.
Responsibilities
This role provides support and coordination to the research, knowledge mobilization and community collaboration activities of the Learning Network. The position is supervised by the Research and Knowledge Mobilization Specialist but operates under the overall direction of the Community Partnership Leader. Working in collaboration, the role is responsible for supporting literature reviews, evaluation of primary research, and discussing, identifying and determining which information should be integrated and shared as the most up to date research and best practice related to gender-based violence across the lifespan.
The role will draft knowledge mobilization and associated dissemination materials, including briefs, infographics, backgrounders and social media content. Working collaboratively with Learning Network team members, the role will support the development, coordination and management of relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, community partners, and knowledge users. This role will assist with collecting, compiling and analyzing research results for report writing and to guide future knowledge translation and synthesis activities. The role will also support the development and implementation of future research projects.
Qualifications
Education:
- 4 year university bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or another relevant area of focus
Experience:
- 3 years experience conducting literature searches, writing reports, and coordinating communications and meetings with stakeholders
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- A strong understanding of GBV across the lifespan with the ability to translate research and practice-based knowledge for lay audiences
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Proven ability to conduct gender based and feminist-based research and analysis
- Strong attention to detail and proofreading abilities
- Proven ability to use an intersectional lens, adopting strong understanding of EDI and AODA
- Ability to analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of detail/data
- Strong record of teamwork with the motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision
- Advanced computer skills including spreadsheet design, word processing and database management
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines
