Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services and Infrastructure, the Civil Engineer Technologist (CET) will support LPRCA’s flood forecasting and warning services, capital infrastructure projects, flood and erosion hazard mapping, and supports GIS. The CET will also conduct field monitoring and surveys of LPRCA water control structures, dam operations and maintenance, and dam safety.
The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited civil engineering diploma or degree program with a CET designation. The ideal candidate is hard-working, highly organized, and knowledgeable about water and environmental management principles and technologies. The Civil Engineer Technologist must be resourceful, pay close attention to detail, and possess an exceptional ability to work well independently and with a team.

Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited University/College with a degree/diploma specializing in Civil Engineering.
- Certified Engineering Technician designation.
- Minimum 2 years of related work experience (Conservation Authority or Municipal environment preferred).
- Experience and knowledge in hydrology, computer modeling, surveying, and construction practices and processes.
- Knowledge in hydrologic and hydraulic computer modeling, including HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS.
- Knowledge in geographic information systems (GIS), and related software, including ArcGIS and QGIS.
- Working knowledge of geotechnical and fluvial/coastal geomorphology is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with Water Information Systems by Kisters (WISKI) and Simultaneous Data Acquisition (SODA) is an asset.
- Knowledge of current water/environmental management principles, technologies, legislation, and municipal/provincial planning policies and processes.
- Demonstrated communication (written & oral), interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- A negative Criminal Records and Judicial Matters check (CRJMC) is required.
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle.
- Support, administer, develop and maintain the Authority’s Flood Forecasting and Warning System.
- Undertake day-to-day dam and erosion control structure operation and maintenance as well as routine dam inspections to identify deficiencies and evaluate required remedial measures.
- Coordinate source water protection planning across the watershed by providing support to local municipalities, representing LPRCA on committees, and ensuring that municipal strategies are integrated into larger watershed plans.
- Administer the Authority’s Low Water Response program by monitoring precipitation, stream flow, groundwater levels and other factors to recognize and measure the severity of low water conditions. Represent LPRCA on the Low Water Response team and provide technical expertise.
- Maintain and develop floodplain and hazardous land mapping and information.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies, guidelines, and strategies relating to water management objectives, natural hazard management, and planning and regulation services.
- Project management: supporting capital infrastructure projects, dam safety reviews, Class Environmental Assessments, and construction oversight.
- Support and maintain the GIS database.
- Represent the Authority on external committees related to water management.
- Travel for meetings and field work.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Tillsonburg with some travel around the watershed.
- 35-hour work week (Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.).
