About the role
The Vice President will play an integral role as part of the organization's executive team and accountable for articulating and executing a roadmap for venture growth, community engagement, and brand and public relations to enable the organization's strategic goals. This position accomplishes this through behaviors that demonstrate deep alignment with TechAlliance’s overall mission and core values, growing the organizations diversified funding streams, while activating the Southwestern Ontario innovation corridor and innovation agenda to drive positive societal and economic impact.
This position will require working in a complex environment of highly competitive ideas with limited funding and multiple, invested and adjacent stakeholders with differing ideas. The role focuses on the continuous advancement and promotion of London and Southwestern Ontario as a globally competitive and recognizable innovation hub.
Reporting to the CEO you will

Be a visible, public face, working closely with industry and business leaders to facilitate the growth and competitiveness of local entrepreneurship, cultivate a close and productive relationship with all levels of funders, corporate, federal, provincial, municipal, including collaborative local, national and global, public and private key stakeholders, with a keen focus on new revenue and unrestricted funding.

Accountable for cultivating partnerships with venture capitalists and angel investors, ecosystem partners, and academic institutions to strengthen both TechAlliance’s venture pipeline and the support network for founders, industry leaders and tech talent.

Recruit, inspire and lead a strong team of professional staff, in addition to vendors like Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, Growth Coaches and freelance writers, who are responsible for delivering a variety of entrepreneurial supports including advisory services, business incubation, access to TechAlliance space, and experiences for tech talent, industry leaders and venture founders, that foster a vibrant technology community.

Alongside the People & Operations Leader, support organizational reporting to funders including detailed reporting on the advancement of the region's ventures and corporate innovation initiatives, as well as building financial forecasts related to the cost and return on investment, with healthy, increased revenue.

Structure and execute KPIs and dashboards for functional areas aligned with strategic objectives for TechAlliance, while facilitating effective and innovative brainstorming sessions which contribute to the generation of new ideas that push the boundaries of what's possible.

Identify and address critical needs and opportunities for Ontario’s entrepreneurs and small and medium sized businesses and lead the development of innovative and creative verticals aimed at entrepreneurial development and commercialization of innovation for SME’s and corporate enterprise.

Build excitement and deliver subject matter expertise at a senior executive level particularly in the areas of operational excellence, marketing communication, venture growth and revenue generation through sales, sponsorship and membership.
What you need to succeed

10+ years’ leadership management experience in tech or non-profit with a strong propensity for team building, coaching and mentoring, proven ability to develop, manage and motivate a top caliber team around a compelling vision.

Disruptor that demonstrates analytical rigor, reviews materials with meticulous detail and has a proven record of accomplishment to think beyond traditional ideas and solutions with both practical and innovative impact.

Strikes a balance between strategic thinking and tactical implementation, who has strong business acumen, ability to think creatively, be highly driven with ability to command credibility and influence across the ecosystem.

Visionary that can quantify, analyze and optimize programs and growth initiatives with a strong bias for action and the ability to foster a competitive and collaborative, results focused mentality in the team, aspiring to excellence detailed in our company culture and core values.

Bold, creative problem solver who is a consistent team player with exceptional leadership and communication skills, who is a driving force for the region's innovation agenda.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent post-secondary education (entrepreneurship, business or communications an asset).

Active social media participant.

Valid driver's licence with access to a vehicle.
- Resides in Elgin, Huron, Lambton, Middlesex, or Oxford County.
