WORK DESCRIPTION
The Meat Cutter is responsible for the cutting and preparation of all meats (beef, pork, veal, lamb, and fowl) and fish required for the self-serve and service meat areas. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy vision, mission, and the Farm Boy Way.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Receive orders as they arrive from suppliers and direct merchandise to proper area
2. Cut and prepare all fresh and prepared meat for retail sale
3. Accept responsibility for proper and adequate supply of cuts carried by Farm Boy
4. Provide superior customer service
5. Ensure proper stock rotation of all assigned items in the department and ensure excellent quality and value of all merchandise
6. Keep the work and storage areas clean and safe at all times and keep equipment immaculate and in safe working order
7. Empty, clean and sanitize coolers on a regular and timely basis
8. Work as a team member, lending support and assistance to fellow employees
9. Assist in the performance of inventory-taking and recommend the ordering of merchandise and supplies to the Meat Manager or designate
10. Accept responsibility for designated department opening and closing procedures as may be directed by the Meat Manager or designate
11. Assist and relieve other members of the Meat production or service team as may be requested by the Meat Manager or designate
12. May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis
- Typically requires 1 to 3 years of related experience
- Solid meat cutting knowledge
- Strong customer service skills
- Technical knowledge of meat production and equipment
- Superior standards of cleanliness and quality
- Positive outlook with a history of proven dependability and commitment
- Ability to work from directives with little supervision
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
- Superior time management and organizational skills with keen attention to detail
