Accounting Clerk - Billing

THE POSITION

For the highly skilled, confident and motivated Accounting Clerk, we offer challenging work, a competitive compensation and benefits package, and an exciting team-oriented work environment. The successful candidates will have the ability to work independently, but in a team-oriented environment conducive to interactive support, and will be well organized, attentive to detail and can prioritize tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage all aspects and stages of the billing and E-Billing processes including managing relationships with multiple third party E-Billing software systems (Legal-X, CounselLink, etc.)
• Handle monthly appeals regarding rejections of all e-bills
• Making corrections to time dockets (litigation codes, content, spelling and grammar)
• Liaising with lawyers and staff regarding any matter budgeting requirements or necessary edits
• Review and process bills to ensure all bills are recorded on a timely and accurate basis
• Ensure billing problems are addressed promptly/ Troubleshoot and address E-Billing issues
• Ensure compliance with firm approved policies and procedures, and client guidelines
• Accounts Receivables collection
• Assisting in month-end processes and coordinating with other employees involved in billing
• Perform other duties as required to achieve firm objective

QUALIFICATIONS

• Post secondary education in Accounting preferred or related work experience
• 3-5 years of experience in a billing role
• Previous law firm or professional services firm experience is a definite asset
• Experience with GhostPractice and Legal-X/CounselLink Systems is preferred
• Attention to detail, time management, and strong organizational skills are essential.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles as they relate to billing, time and costs, and accounts receivables
• Team player, self-starter with a positive attitude
