PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
To develop and implement an annual financial aid strategy in conjunction with the Program Directors and the Directors of Recruitment and Admissions in order to recruit superior quality candidates to the MBA, MSc, HBA and AEO Programs.
To educate, inform and refer all Ivey students to available funding.  This funding will be in the form of Ivey Scholarships and Awards, Western bursaries and private and government loans.  This is accomplished by building and maintaining effective relationships with Ivey Advancement, Western University, private financial institutions, and partners of the School.
 
KEY RESULT AREAS:
 
  • In conjunction with the Controller and the programs Directors of Recruitment and Admissions, develop and implement a financial aid strategy that will attract superior quality students to Ivey’s MBA, HBA and AEO programs.
  • Increase the accessibility of student loans to exceptional candidates who are targeted by Ivey and who require financial assistance.  This will be accomplished by building and maintaining effective relationships with selected financial institutions and Advancement.
  • Proactively manage available scholarship funds with selected superior students of the MBA, HBA, AEO, and PhD Programs.
  • Provide greater accessibility for MBA, HBA and AEO students to loans, scholarships and other financial aid.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Liaise with Programs Directors of Recruitment and Admissions for strategic management and allocation of available scholarship funds.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local financial institutions to facilitate financial aid for superior students requiring assistance to enter Ivey Programs.
  • Counsel students in financial difficulty. Link students with banks, OSAP or other external resources required to assist them.
  • Responsible for all aspects of financial aid for students of the Ivey.
  • Match donor agreements with appropriate Ivey students
  • Administer scholarships. Disburse funds to student accounts.
  • Communicate scholarship information with the Stewardship function in Advancement.
  • Review new donor agreements.
  • Advise Advancement on new scholarship needs i.e. assist Advancement by providing them with relevant information regarding Ivey students and their specific needs.
 
 
EDUCATION:   University degree
 
JOB COMPLEXITIES, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
 
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant administrative experience in an educational environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Ivey’s  programs an asset
  • Ability to acquire an excellent understanding of Ivey donor agreements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of student financial aid and scholarship programs an asset
  • Professional presence and manner and the ability to interact effectively with Ivey program directors, students, financial institutions, corporate sponsors and other external constituents relevant to the student financial aid.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent team skills to work with relevant partners in the School. Maturity and good judgment to handle stressful and occasionally confrontational situations.  Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to make decisions independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills: Excel, Word, Microsoft Office suite of products and  databases; experience with Peoplesoft and Maximizer an asset.
  
 
Location: Ivey Business School, Western University, London, Ontario
 
This is a two year renewable contract with comprehensive benefits.
