YMCA of Southwestern Ontario was founded in 1856 and has over 200 locations from Goderich to Point Pelee, and Windsor to Woodstock. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed child care in Canada and have over 100 school age programs across our regions. We also offer settlement services to newcomers, employment programs, mental health support, and youth programs. YMCA of Southwestern Ontario operates two overnight camps, one in Point Pelee National Park, and one on Beausoleil Island in Muskoka. We also have 15 Health & Fitness branches across Southwestern Ontario.

Position: Part-Time Wellness Coach & Personal Trainer
Location: Stoney Creek Community Centre, YMCA & Library
Start Date: October 2024
Hourly: $17.20 and $25 for Personal Training
Availability: Mornings and Weekends
As part of your total compensation:
• A YMCA personal membership at our health and fitness branches
• Vacation entitlement in accordance with the employment standards regulations
• May be entitled to up to 12 paid personal days – applicable with position and contract length
• A discount on our Childcare and Camp programs
Education and Skills Qualifications:
• Related education or certifications (personal training certification required)
• Current Standard First Aid/CPR/AED
• Experience in teaching group fitness is an asset
• 1 year of related experience or Health & Fitness Diploma
• Excellent customer service skills
• YMCA Leadership in Group, Individual Conditioning (IC 1 and 2), Aquatic Trainers, Personal Trainer (or other recognized certifications)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Provide a current Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Position Screening as per the Association policy.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
In this role, you will: KEY DUTIES
• Act as a YMCA ambassador, demonstrating YMCA core values in your daily work.
• Customer Service: Provides fitness floor supervision, including greeting each Member by name whenever possible and servicing their fitness needs during scheduled shifts.
• Responsible for achieving Y Thrive appointments and Personal Training monthly goals.
• Maintain a safe, clean and friendly environment
• Conducts Wellness Coaching sessions and individual program review individual conditioning orientations
• Monitors/supervises access and use of equipment within the weight room area
• Routine maintenance/tidying of Health and Wellness Centre Conditioning Room facility
• Manage varying amounts of weight-cleaning, moving equipment, providing instruction
